Valentine’s day is a holiday that occurs on the 14th of February, commonly celebrated in western societies. The day is named after one or more martyrs of the early Christian era named Valentine or Valentinus who lived sometime during the 3rd century CE, unalived for disobeying oppressing laws directed either against Christian or against young lovers in the Roman Empire. Currently, it is a day dedicated to letting that special someone know how much they are cared for through gifts, flowers, greeting cards, dinner out, or even a special home cooked meal. With fun valentine’s day egg breakfast meals as a great option to get the celebration started.
The History of Valentine’s Day
As one legend goes, Valentine’s sacrifice took place sometime in the 3rd century CE. A time when the Roman Empire had been pushing hard against a new group of believers. They were not thrilled to see the spread of Christianity for many reasons and tried to do almost everything to deter conversions but their efforts failed.
History of Saint Valentine
There is said to have been three individuals by the name of Valentinus (Valentine) in or around the aforementioned period, in Rome and Tenri, all of them being martyred by the Romans.
